ICT Setup

ICT Silver Bullet

In short

The Silver Bullet is ICT's most specific setup: a one-hour window inside a Killzone where the first clean Fair Value Gap, in the direction of the daily bias, offers a high-probability entry with a tight stop. Three Silver Bullet windows print every trading day — and you only need one to make a session.

The three Silver Bullet windows (ET)

  • London Silver Bullet: 03:00 – 04:00 ET
  • AM Silver Bullet: 10:00 – 11:00 ET
  • PM Silver Bullet: 14:00 – 15:00 ET

The AM Silver Bullet is the most popular — it overlaps the NY cash open's first big push and offers the cleanest FVGs of the day.

The rules

  1. Set your daily bias before the window opens — bullish or bearish, based on higher-timeframe structure.
  2. Mark draw on liquidity: the next obvious pool of stops in the direction of bias.
  3. Inside the hour, wait for a clean Fair Value Gap aligned with bias.
  4. Enter at the CE (50%) of the FVG.
  5. Stop loss beyond the far edge of the FVG.
  6. Target the draw on liquidity. Partial or full target — your call.

Why the Silver Bullet works

The hour bracketing each Killzone's peak is when institutions execute the bulk of their planned flow. Displacement during that window is rarely random — it's typically driven by real order flow, which is why the FVGs hold.

The setup also has built-in discipline: you only take one trade per window, and only if a clean FVG aligned with bias actually prints. Most days that's a single setup — sometimes none. That scarcity is the point.

Common mistakes

  • Trading against bias. The Silver Bullet is a bias-aligned setup. A bearish FVG on a bullish day is not the trade.
  • Taking the second FVG. The setup is the first clean FVG of the window. After that, edge degrades quickly.
  • No draw on liquidity. Without a clear target, you'll exit too early or hold too long. Mark it before the window.

Backtest the Silver Bullet

Open NQ Replay, pick a Killzone session, skip to 10:00 ET, and step bar by bar. Log every clean FVG that formed inside the hour, your decision, and the outcome. After 30 sessions you'll have a real number for your Silver Bullet win rate — which is the only honest way to know if the setup belongs in your playbook.

Frequently asked questions

What time is the ICT Silver Bullet?

Three windows: London Silver Bullet 03:00–04:00 ET, AM Silver Bullet 10:00–11:00 ET, and PM Silver Bullet 14:00–15:00 ET.

What is the Silver Bullet strategy?

Inside the one-hour window, enter at the CE (50%) of the first clean Fair Value Gap aligned with your daily bias. Stop beyond the far edge of the FVG; target the next pool of liquidity.

Can the Silver Bullet fail?

Yes — like any setup, edge depends on bias accuracy, clean FVG quality, and execution. Backtesting on a bar-by-bar replay is the only way to measure your personal hit rate.

Which Silver Bullet is best?

The AM Silver Bullet (10:00–11:00 ET) is the most popular because it overlaps the NY cash open's highest-volume hour.

Can I practice the Silver Bullet in NQ Replay?

Yes. Pick a random NQ session, jump to 10:00 ET, and step through the AM window. FVGs and Killzones are drawn automatically, so you can log every first-clean-FVG entry and its outcome until you know your real hit rate.

Data & methodology

All NQ and MNQ examples use Databento GLBX.MDP3 1-minute OHLCV candles for continuous front-month E-mini Nasdaq-100 futures, aggregated to higher timeframes (5m, 15m, 1h, 4h) so every bar agrees across timeframes. Sessions run 01:00–16:00 ET. ICT overlays are drawn algorithmically from the same price data used in the replay trainer.
