What is GC Replay?

GC Replay is the gold part of NQ Replay. It includes 211 GC sessions from January 2 and 174 MGC sessions from February 24, both through October 26, 2026, with 1-minute bars and 1-second data for the forming candle. Gold needs Pro or Pro+.

Recorded COMEX sessions

A normal session runs 6:00 p.m. ET the evening before to 5:00 p.m. ET with CME's 60-minute daily break; holidays and early closes are shorter or absent. Step bar by bar or play at speed.

02 // TWO SIZES

GC or MGC

Practise the 100-ounce GC or the 10-ounce MGC, each from its own recorded sessions — one MGC tick is a tenth of a GC tick. Ten MGC match one GC in exposure, but the two have separate order books, prices and fills.

Every gold session in the archive has 1-second data, useful around fast moves such as U.S. data releases.

The replay shows whichever outright contract traded the most volume that session. For gold that activity concentrated in February, April, June, August and December contracts, and moved to the next one about a month before each expiring month — these dates come from the archive, not from a CME roll calendar.

How to open GC in the replay

  1. Start Pro or Pro+ (or the $1 trial if eligible) from the pricing page.
  2. Open the replay and choose GC or MGC in the instrument menu.
  3. Choose a 2026 session date (GC from January 2, MGC from February 24, both through October 26).
  4. Write your plan in ticks and dollars, then step forward bar by bar.

Common questions about GC Replay

What is GC Replay?

GC Replay is NQ Replay's market replay for COMEX Gold (GC) and Micro Gold (MGC) futures: load a recorded session, step through it without seeing the future and place simulated trades.

Is GC Replay free?

No. GC and MGC are part of Pro and Pro+. Pro is $12.99/month or $99/year and Pro+ is $19.99/month or $149/year. Eligible new accounts can try Pro for $1 for 3 days, then $12.99/month unless cancelled. The free plan covers NQ and MNQ only (last 6 months, 20 orders a day).

How much gold history is there?

211 GC sessions from January 2, 2026 and 174 MGC sessions from February 24, 2026, both through October 26, 2026. It is not a multi-year archive.

GC or MGC — which should I practise?

Both are priced off gold, but they are separate contracts with their own order books, recorded prices and fills; only the exposure math lines up (a GC tick is $10, an MGC tick $1, so ten MGC equal one GC). Pick the one whose dollar risk matches how you'd trade live.

Which gold contract does a session use?

The outright contract with the most volume that session. GC moved from GCG6 to GCJ6 on Jan 28, GCM6 on Mar 27, GCQ6 on May 27 and GCZ6 on Jul 29, 2026.

Is replay the same as live trading?

No. Recorded bars can't reproduce slippage, spreads in fast markets or real-money pressure. Use replay to rehearse rules, not to predict results.
